Russian Missile Drone Assault Claims Seven Lives in Kyiv

Russian authorities reported that waves of missiles and drones targeting Kyiv overnight into Monday killed at least seven individuals, hours after Ukraine’s president cautioned about an impending large-scale assault.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s City Military Administration, stated on Telegram that 24 others were injured.

He added that a residential building in the Podilskyi district partially collapsed. Furthermore, several multi-story buildings sustained damage in the Darnytsia district, with reports suggesting people may be trapped under debris.

"These are residential buildings. Places where people slept and lived their ordinary lives," Tkachenko stated.

The assault, which continued into early Monday morning, utilized waves of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. Explosions resonated throughout the city as civilians sought refuge in metro stations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned hours prior about another major Russian attack on the capital. This Monday’s incident follows a combined Russian offensive last week that resulted in at least 31 fatalities in Kyiv.

Late Sunday, Zelenskyy reiterated his appeal to Western allies to strengthen Ukraine's air defenses, specifically by providing additional Patriot missiles. He argued that failing to resupply them only encourages Russia to extend its four-year war effort, according to a post on Telegram.
