In the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, Islamists attacked the hotel. 15 people died, 30 were injured. Among the dead there are one American, one Briton and 11 Kenyans. A Spanish citizen is wounded.

An armed attack occurred at the Dusit D2 Hotel. One suicide bomber blew himself up. Then a shootout began.

Kenya’s president, Uhuru Kenyatta said:

«I can now confirm that as of about one hour ago the security operation at Dusit complex is over and all the terrorists eliminated. As of this moment we have confirmation that 14 innocent lives were lost from the hands of these murderous terrorists, with others injured».

The responsibility was claimed by the Islamist group Al-Shabab from Somalia.

The siege of the hotel lasted for several hours. Some hotel staff may still be inside. They sent messages asking for medical help.
