Finnish police are still in the dark over the motive for a sword attack at a vocational school in Eastern Finland that killed one woman and wounded nine people, police said on Wednesday, Euronews reports.
A Finnish man, born in 1994 and a student at the vocational college in Kuopio, attacked several people in a classroom with a sabre, killing one woman and injuring several others on Tuesday.
On arrival at the scene, officers fired two shots at the suspect, severely wounding him, when he failed to comply with orders.
The suspect, yet to be named by authorities, has not yet been questioned by police. He is suspected of one act of murder and several acts of attempted murder.
“There is currently no information as to the motives and causes of the violence,” police said in a statement. “At the moment, the police are of the opinion that the suspect was acting alone and is not, for example, tied to organised crime.”
In addition to the sabre, he carried a gun but it remained unclear whether he used it, police said on Tuesday.
